Menu planning really does save me a lot of time and money, if I just sit down and do it. I usually end up kicking myself when I don't.
Here is my new menu plan I made.
I posted it blank, just in case someone wanted to fill in their own.
My clever mom made this grocery list, which is also very handy and makes grocery shopping a whole lot faster. I added some colour to make it visually faster to find my place on the list. Note some areas are blank for filling in extra ingredients for new recipes, etc.
I edited a version of this grocery list and categorized the columns into aisles in Price Chopper. I could drive to the store with my toddler, get all my groceries, and be back home in an hour! I couldn't believe how much time I saved. Of course that worked for a couple months, and then they changed all their stores to Fresh Co.! I am in the process of redoing my list. *sigh*
Once I fill out a few weekly menus, I will make corresponding grocery lists. I'm not sure how many weeks I can make, but hopefully a few so we can change things up.
Some great resources are:
Donna Young - This woman has more printables than I can imagine. From lists, weekly menus, calendars and notebook organizers, to curriculum (science, math, history, etc.) printables. The list is endless... (no pun intended).
Organized Home - This site covers everything from closets to cleaning.
Fly Lady - This is one organized lady. Her methods make sense, and are often built in to your daily rhythm anyways.
I also really like the HomeRoutine App. It's almost as if it were created using the Fly Lady method, with a built in timer and "zones". Unfortunately I couldn't get a link for this.
